The Open Source Program Office at CERN was approved in early summer 2023 by CERN's directorate. The approved formal mandate was developed by community representatives from across the organization. It highlights the role of the OSPO for the community at CERN and desribes its formal role inside and outside the organization. Formally, the OSPO consists of appointed members by groups/departments at CERN, but explicitly welcomes volunteers to - for example - organize activities, trainings, support the community, provide talks or join discussions. A yearly OSPO report will be published to update everyone on the activities and impact of the OSPO.
